MBA Watch: The Pre-MBA Social Network
Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 03:30PM MBA Watch, an offshoot of the popular Beat the GMAT website, was just launched last week and is already proving to be a valuable tool for applicants. This social network has a page for each of the top 20 business schools, aggregating the schools' official social media feeds, vital statistics, and essay questions all in one place. The information is presented in a similar format to a Facebook wall.

MBA hopefuls can create an account and chose to “follow” different schools, and update their status regarding that school to "applied," "interviewed" or "accepted." Members are encouraged to share their own stats and profiles so applicants can see who they are competing against, something founder Eric Bahn noticed was already happening on Beat the GMAT forums.
Why You Should Join:
- Actively taking part in discussions and following schools can increase your knowledge and understanding of an MBA program’s culture.
- Knowing the current stats and qualifications of other applicants can help you assess your applicantion strengths and weaknesses.
- You may be able to use the platform to connect with future classmates and build relationships.
Like any pre-professional network, moderation is key. Don't spend too much time analyzing all the other applicants for the schools you’re interested in. While it is good to be cognizant of your competition, it's more important for you to prepare and submit your best possible application.
Are you going to create an MBA Watch profile, and would you share your status and profile on the new pre-MBA social network? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
